North West UK Splunch--Saturday 07.09.19
Saturday, Sep 7, 2019 at 2:00pm
(text pinched from last years, thanks Jojo )

DATE & TIME
Saturday 7th September 2019, 2-6pm approx.

VENUE
We have a city-centre venue that's open-plan, airy and flexible, with decent and very reasonably-priced food available.

Yates's
Queen Square
LIVERPOOL
L1 1RH

(It's on the corner of Hood Street and Whitechapel, alongside stop 12 of the Queen Square Bus Station, not quite as shown on their map (which actually points to a multi-storey car park!)

IDENTIFICATION:
Could we suggest that a convenient way of identification without attracting attention is to carry a map, perhaps an A-Z or Ordnance Survey map? We'll put one on the table too.

TRAVEL:
THe venue is alongside Queen Square bus station and only 5 mins walk from either Lime Street mainline station or Liverpool Central/Moorfields for local services.

DRIVING:
For a full route map, put the postcode of the destination (L1 1RH) into a suitable route planner such as Google and it will route you to Queen Square multi-storey car park, which is a few yards North-east along Whitechapel, with the entrance alongside Taz Newsagent (zoom in) on the map linked above. (https://www.q-park.co.uk/en-gb/cities/liverpool/queen-square/ ) For those using Motorways, the useful Traffic England website gives live updates of motorway delays. Just ensure you switch on all the appropriate map layers near the top LHS. (Closures and roadworks aren't set by default, which seems silly!) Also, Live Traffic > Traffic Speed is quite useful. As with most things, you can coax Google Maps to do all these too. (http://www.trafficengland.com/#map-menu-traffic-information )

TRAINS & BUSES:
Main line services terminate at Lime Street, just 5 mins away while local services from the Wirral and north-south Liverpool pass through Central station, also 5 mins away. Queen Square, alongside our venue, is one of the main bus stations in the city centre. (See below for a useful link to all bus & train timetables.)

FLIGHTS:
Liverpool Airport (https://www.liverpoolairport.com/ ) has so many cheap flights (it's an EasyJet/RyanAir hub) and easy transport connections to it these days that those travelling a distance might find it simpler to fly in! Arriva bus 500 runs every 30 mins from the airport to 'Liverpool One' bus station, which is a 10 minute stroll along Paradise St./Whitechapel.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT INFO:
For those needing to find land-based public transport links, the Traveline site enables you to put in your postcode (if you're in the same region) and that of your destination (L1 1RH) and it gives you all the alternatives, even including walking time to bus stops with street by street walking directions and super-detailed maps if you click the relevant buttons! (https://www.traveline.info/ )
For those travelling across the regional boundaries of that site (and, therefore, probably by train), the TrainTimes site provides a splendid simplified interface to the National Rail times and fares info but bear in mind that the data is provided by National Rail so tends to be only as good as the data they use for their own site, which means it won't necessarily show you the fastest or cheapest route, just the ones that are 'allowed' within their route-planning structural rules! (https://traintimes.org.uk/ ) Try using their 'split ticket' finder for the cheapest fare.

HOTELS:
For those travelling from farther afield who wish to stay overnight, the city centre has many hotels. There is a bit of a problem at weekends, especially when any of the three local football teams are playing at home, which is most weekends. Then prices tend to shoot up unless you're prepared to go for somewhere 'out in the sticks' and commute in and out. Having said that, the timings are such that it should be possible to do the splunch within the day from many places. (eg. London only 2-2 1/2 hours away and currently showing fares from as little as £18 on Advance booking at the time of creating this page.)

BEHAVIOUR etc:
Although the last thing we want are 'rules', following much 'discussion' on another thread about a different splunch down south a few years ago, could I suggest that we all think carefully about how we might scare away nervous wammers/sploshers if we're not careful. (This is a kink, after all.) Those who are confident about the way they are may not appreciate that they may scare people away from coming along to say hello.

Could I suggest that we should treat everyone with respect and try not to draw attention to ourselves. We're in a provincial town-centre pub on a Saturday afternoon, not Soho on a Saturday night. I'd suggest dressing normally rather than 'flamboyantly' (e.g. best to leave the cross-dressing and rubber gear at home! LoL.), using people's real names rather than using their kink name, and talking quietly when discussing any kinky issues which could cause embarrassment.

Photography and social media - again, for people's privacy, please dont take any photos of any splunch attendees, and please don't share details of this event on social media.

Remember that people who work with any member of our group might be in the same pub and not everyone wants their kinks broadcast to work colleagues! Having said that, the background noise level was fairly high when we last used it for a splunch, which should help.

So who's up for a meet then? Just a chin wag and a drink for people to get to know each other - no actual wamming, of course. (The purpose of these meetings is to enable those who might want to do so to arrange that separately if they wish. Otherwise it's just a friendly afternoon in the pub with people of similar interests - what more could you want?!)

Of course, there is also an actual wamming/sploshing session taking place the next day, just 'over the water' (i.e. the Mersey), as advertised in another thread, so you can make a full weekend of it!
